Main shop in Nihonbashi
Eitaro Sohonpo has operated a confectionery at the foot of the Nihonbashi since the Edo era. The shop of course sells Eitaro’s original products such as Umeboshi-Ame (pickled plum candy), Amananatto (made from sweetened beans), and Tamadare (sweets made with wasabi), and the brands focus on the themes of candy, health, and souvenirs from Tokyo.
Diverse brands
Eitaro Sohonpo has 5 brands. In addition to the Eitaro brand that people have been familiar with since the Edo era, there is also Ameya Eitaro, Nihonbashi Eitaro, Karada ni Eitaro, and Tokyo Peasen. These brands have unique and diverse products that have been created to reflect the times.
Gift corner
Eitaro confidently recommends these for gifts. We can prepare Eitaro’s main products, such as Kintsuba (sweet bean paste in a thin wheat skin) and Anmitsu (sweet bean paste and fruit), in packaging suitable to be given as a gift. Please consider purchasing these as gifts on a special occasion.
Unbaked sweets zone
In the Edo era, our shop got its start as a stand on the street at the foot of the Nihonbashi, where it became a popular spot that sold unbaked sweets like kintsuba and daifuku. In addition to our main unbaked sweets like Kintsuba and Kuromame Daifuku (black soybean mochi), we also have different colorful unbaked sweets in each season.
Demonstrations by artisans
In our demonstration corner, we reproduce the flavors that became familiar in the Nihonbashi fish market in the Edo era. Kintsuba, which we have made since the company was founded, are baked like they were in olden times. Kuromame Daifuku wrapped in mochi and Hanjo Dango (sweet dumplings) are some of the Eitaro products that we make at the old shop in Nihonbashi while customers watch. The artisans in the kitchen are certified as Select Certified Artisans of Japanese Sweets by the Japan Wagashi Association.
Nihonbashi E-chaya
Edo, Tokyo, Nihonbashi. Nihonbashi E-chaya is a casual café where you can enjoy Japanese sweets, coffee, and tea in a tourist area where Edo culture is still alive today. Please feel free to take a stroll through Nihonbashi and drop by the shop.
Eitaro Anmitsu Parfait
Eitaro’s Anmitsu, which was featured in the “Hello, it’s Eitaro” commercial, represents the sweet taste of summer. Anmitsu combines flavorful kanten made with agar produced in Japan, fruits in all kinds of colors, and delicious sweet bean jam. Experience the luxury of putting the Anmitsu on top of ice cream, and then putting your favorite ame-mitsu on top (Umeboshi-Ame, Kuro-Ame, Amao-Ame, Hachimitsu-Remon-Ame (honey-lemon candy)).
Nihonbashi An-Butter Toast
Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, Nihonbashi An-Butter Toast has Calpis butter and plenty of sweet bean jam on Maison Kayser Bread. Come taste the An-Butter Toast, a new, luxurious flavor of Nihonbashi.
